Stephanie Tomasso leads the firm’s Washington DC office and also serves as the leader of the Trade & Professional Association Practice and the co-lead of the Corporate Affairs Practice. She specializes in conducting CEO succession and other senior leadership searches for advocacy and policy-oriented organizations in the nonprofit space and has substantial experience in working with multi-stakeholder organizations, as well as a deep familiarity with the importance of constituent engagement. Stephanie also partners with corporate clients in the recruitment of heads of government and external affairs, as well as other executives in the public policy space. Stephanie has recently led assignments to recruit CEOs for member-driven organizations with domestic and global footprints across a broad range of industries and professional specialties, whose organizational mandates include advocacy, education, certification, publishing, and other programmatic offerings. She routinely partners with search committees comprised of leading business executives/practitioners seeking leadership with deep functional and industry experience, outstanding interpersonal skills, and operational management capabilities. Stephanie has also conducted searches for public policy and external affairs executives for a range of large and small companies, start-ups, and associations. Since 2018, 100% of Stephanie’s candidate slates have included gender and racial representation; 52% of successful placements identify as female and 22% identify as a person of color. Stephanie has more than 20 years of executive search experience in Washington, DC, having spent seven years with another large, international search firm before joining Russell Reynolds Associates. She began her career as a Management Consultant.

Stephanie received her BA in history from Washington and Lee University. She serves on the board of the Bryce Harlow Foundation and is a member of the Parent Board at Georgetown Preparatory School. She was previously on the local board of Girls on the Run.
