Julian Ha is a partner in the Heidrick & Struggles Washington, D.C. office and founded and co-leads the Association Practice. He is also a member of the CEO & Board of Directors and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Practices and leads the firm’s Government & Policy Practice. Julian co-leads the Heidrick & Struggles Professionals of Color Employee Resource Group.
Julian has led some of the most consequential CEO searches in the Trade Association market including leaders for the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), National Association of Realtors (NAR), and US Travel Association to highlight a few. Julian was selected by peer search firms to conduct the CEO search for the Association of Executive Search Consultants. Julian has extensive Trade Association boardroom governance experience. Julian currently serves on the boards of the Public Affairs Council, US-ASEAN Business Council, and AESC which represents the global retained executive search and leadership consulting profession.
Prior to executive search, Julian practiced corporate law in New York, Singapore, and London and advised multinational corporations on their IPOs, venture capital investments, and cross-border M&A transactions. He has also operated as a venture capitalist in London, headed the European business development efforts of Capital IQ, a financial software company, and was a director in the corporate finance group of ESCL, a British merchant bank.
Julian is a frequent speaker on the topics of board governance; diversity, equity, and inclusion, and angel and social impact Investing. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C.
